Free Palestine
I stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people recognizing their enduring struggle for justice, human rights, self-determination and their right to defend themselves against terrorism in their homeland. I condemn the attacks by the “Israel” government which to date has claimed 10k+ Palestinian lives (almost half of them children), denial of access to food - water - electricity - humanitarian aid, continued air strikes on refugee camps - hospitals, killing of reporters - doctors, continued displacement of residents in Gaza - West Bank, and the list of international war crimes goes on…
I created this digital graphic of a protester with her fist in the air and expressing solidarity by chanting, “FREE PALESTINE”. She is wearing a keffiyeh scarf with a Palestine flag and map in the background. I am offering a free .pdf download of this image on my blog for anyone to print and share in public. Its very important for artists to show up during times like this and speak truth to power. Propaganda is a powerful tool in shaping the narrative and affirming dignity in the Palestinian struggle so I encourage everyone to speak up one way or another. If you chose to remain silent, then by default it becomes consent which means you are effectively taking the side of the oppressor. I hope my art can be just another piece of content that continues to normalize our willingness to speak up. I have to admit that prior to these most recent attacks in October. I wasnt as educated and therefore, not as engaged as I should have been around this issue. Lately ive been going down the rabbit hole and I realize that its not as complex as what we are made to think. Of course there is deep history in that region but understanding the impact Zionism in the displacement of Palestinians since 1948 to now and all the violations of human rights, its becomes black and white in realizing who the oppressor is and why we should fight back. Especially as US tax payers who are flipping the bill on war against a defenseless population.
